Claire Ptak, a pastry chef from Violet Bakery in East London has been chosen as the official Royal Wedding cake maker. It has been revealed that it will be of the lemon elderflower variety and decorated with fresh flowers and covered in buttercream.

Meghan Markle and Claire aren’t strangers;  with Meghan interviewing Claire a few years ago for her food and travel website at the time, TheTig.com. The pair bonded over their shared appreciation of organic, seasonal ingredients, sustainability and fresh, local produce.

Claire Ptak said: “I can’t tell you how delighted I am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms Markle’s wedding cake. Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and most importantly flavour, makes this the most exciting event to be a part of.”
