We start this walking tour at the beautiful Bloomsbury Square Gardens. Bloomsbury Square and Russell Square both provide leafy and picturesque sanctuaries in the area and are both lined with elegant looking townhouses.

Bloomsbury is roughly bordered by Tottenham Court Road and Chancery Lane tube stations to the South and Warren Street and Kings Cross St. Pancras to the North. It is a very well-connected area as it is easily accessed by 9 different tube stations.

Bloomsbury is probably best known for its educational, medical and cultural institutions.

The University College London, the University of London, the New College of the Humanities, the University of Law, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and the British Medical Association are just some of those educational institutions that call Bloomsbury their home.

The Charles Dickens Museum is located in the author’s former home and shows connections between the writer’s life and that of his characters.

The area is also home to the British Museum, where we end our tour. It is the largest museum in the United Kingdom.
