The first direct London to Amsterdam Eurostar train departed this morning from St Pancras. Leaving at 8:30am, the train is due to arrive at 1:15pm, making the journey a total of 3 and a half hours.

The return trip however will involve a change of train at Brussels until the end of the year when Dutch authorities are expected to approve passport checks at Amsterdam station. The temporary change of train will make the return journey slightly longer at 4 hours 50 minutes.

To make your journey a little more pleasant the wifi on-board is supposed to be extra speedy, as well as 300 hours of available Amazon Prime TV and films to browse. The best part? There is an on-board virtual reality experience which transports you underwater during the time you are passing through the tunnel, allowing you to ‘see’ all the fish.
